Say your company is on GitHub Enterprise (aka the enterprise variant of github.com
) and you'd like to start using Reviewable. That's an awesome idea if I say so myself! But... which variant of Reviewable should you go with?
reviewable.io
would be fine if you're using GHE Cloud, though. You have three perfectly valid options to choose from. Here's how they differ:
Business | Enterprise Managed | Enterprise Self-Hosted | |
---|---|---|---|
GHE variants | GHE Cloud only | GHE Cloud and GHE Server* | GHE Cloud and GHE Server |
Location | US data center | Data center near you | Completely up to you |
Sharing | Multi-tenant | Dedicated | Dedicated |
Admin responsibility | Reviewable | Reviewable | Your IT department |
Database security | Security rules | Security rules and encryption | Security rules and encryption |
SOC 2 certification | No | Not yet | Yes |
Support | Chat and email | Chat, email, and shared Slack channel | Chat, email, and shared Slack channel |
Feature updates | Continuous updates with the latest features | Stable versions only; influence on roadmap | Stable versions only; influence on roadmap |
Analytics | None | Raw analytics feed | Raw analytics feed |
Pricing | $16 per contributor/month | Negotiated per seat pricing, plus a hosting charge | Negotiated per seat pricing (same for Managed or Self-Hosted) |
Billing | Monthly or annual by card, or annual invoiced | Annual invoiced | Annual invoiced |
Agreement | Standard Terms of Service | Negotiable | Negotiable |
SLA | Best effort | Negotiable | Negotiable |
* For Enterprise Managed the GHE Server needs to be reachable from the internet by the Reviewable instance and vice-versa. If that's not feasible or acceptable then only Enterprise Self-Hosted will work for you.
Only you know what's important for your use case (and complies with company policy!) but hopefully the table above helps orient you a bit among the options. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to discuss the fine details, though.
